[Day 24] Zibga, the Coral Fortress

Image
Zibga, the Coral Fortress (I base this entity on a prompt from Evlyn Moroau's Mythos Entity Generator ) In the western outskirts of Sarkash, Zibga had been sleeping beneah the earth for aeons, when a chance series of events brought it into the light of day, such as it is in that part of the world. A great storm had uprooted trees, leveled cottages, and uncovered Zibga. Several gigantic oaks had grown on top of it, keeping it dormant. Waiting. The entity was slowly waking up under the cold sun, basking in the warmth of animals, when Griel came along. Griel was looking for musrooms after the storm, and never expected to see a wonder like Zibga. Zibga is a multitude of organisms, a colony of tiny polyps building great structures of mineral, when it is awake. The structure it builds is an opulent castle with concentric courtyards, buttresses, spires and balconies. As of yet it has only begun this process, awakened by Griel’s body heat as he explor...

[Day 17] Rikittkit, the Stylite Baboons

Image
Rikittkit, the Stylite Baboons It is said that when a follower of Nechrubel reaches the highest mystical understanding of the god’s true nature, they are transformed bodily so that their outside shows their inner nature. They become grinning, red-arsed misbegotten crosses between dogs and monkeys. In Bergen Chrypt thet call the creatures baboons, but scholars note that the Blessed of Nechrubel differ from these creatures in three ways. They always appear atop pillars or pedestals. They have wings like those of a swan. And finally, they have the gift (or curse) of speech. A Stylite Baboon appearswhen a person have lost their way, whether literally or spiritually. It will never bee seen to arrive, but is assumed to wing its way down from the stars. They are limited in their actions, but never quite predictable (roll 1d6) 1: It will ask for freshly slaughtered meat in return for its blessing. 2: It will pose a riddle 3: It will suggest that the lost person is emcumbered unduly...

I know what ghosts want

Image
...I know what haunts like Ahem, here's a table for generating a job ghosts might want your player characters to do. D20 Job (Ghost) 1 “(Faction) evicted me from my haunt. Help me get it back”. 2 “I cannot find rest! I will haunt you until you help me”. 3 “Ghost hunters are hunting me. Get them to go away” 4 “I am fading from existence but I’m not ready to go”. 5 “I would pay to feel in possession of a body again. Could you procure one?” 6 “Avenge my death!” 7 “I need you to see that my dependents are safe” 8 “My remains aren’t properly buried”. 9 “I escaped from a great black engine underground, but my ghost-kin are still toiling in there”. 10 “My love is still a...

Background tables for Teen Cthulhu

Background tables These tables are meant to serve as inspiration for your teen’s background. You’re not required to use them, or to roll randomly.  D10 Ideology/Belief 1 There is no such thing as bad attention. 2 Being a kid is really an application process for being an adult. I know where I’m meant to go. 3 I have faith (specify). It helps me tell right from wrong. 4 “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it.” 5 I know that the world could be better, and it’s my job to make others see this (what’s your cause?) 6 There are more things out there than what people will admit to. I want to see what’s beneath the surface. 7 Childhood is a golden, fading memory. I don’t like I’m heading. 8 I only tr...

The Liver of Acratopotes

Image
In the ancient city of Attica Acratopotes was hailed as a demigod and drinking brother of Dionysos, god of wine, grape-harvest and estatic madness. Now it seems that the doughty drunkard is gone. No one knows if knows if evil killed him, if excess was the culprit or if his friend tore him asunder in a fit of divine insanity. It seems that everyone has an idea though. His liver has surfaced on the Astral Plane, the graveyard of gods. It has attracted a motley assembly of religious oddballs, the culinarily adventurous, and those who grasp for anything to get a better lot in life. The Liver of Acratopotes is a Troika! (or Advanced Fighting Fantasy) setting, inspired by mythology, westerns about prospectors and the planes of many D&D editions (including but not limited to Planescape). Roll d66 to get a character background 11: Luckless Barge Captain You lost you ship in a game of cards, or possibly dice. You were good and soused, and the others must have been...
