31 Days Character Creation Challenge Day 04: Into the Odd
Today's Into the Odd character is an Unhuman. Don't call them 'Gnome'. Not human, everything un-. Dhome is next to Klavss, continuing clockwise around the fire. Actually Dhome is tinkering with the fire, or rather the bunsen-like contraption which made the fire possible in the first place. Humans call Dhome’s people Knomes. Also Gnomes, Hnomes, or Lnomes. It matters not a jot, since humans, being contrary creatures to a man, refuse to pronounce the first consonant anyway. Dhome’s people call themselves Kabouter, which translates roughly as “Those closest to the stars”. The Kabouter usually live atop mountains and hills, in structures disguised as natural objects (rocks, dead trees, cogwheels fallen from the machinery of night). Dhome themself is a scavenger, although they would probably prefer ‘reclaimant’. They have descended from the mountains to recover lost star-technology.
